Fall Preview: Performance Tools

The Fall is an exciting time here at DataDirect. As we pick apples, carve pumpkins, and navigate corn mazes, we also look forward to releasing a number of new and improved product suites to better serve our great customers. To help give you an idea of what’s in store, we’ve put together a Fall Preview Blog Series, which will delve into a few of the exciting new product features we’ll be unveiling soon! So, let’s kick things off with our first post, which looks at Performance.

In recent years, hardware has not only gotten faster, but it has also dropped significantly in price, to the point where it’s become commoditized. Fast hardware is not only affordable, but allows users to run multiple virtualized operating systems on a single machine. This means there aren’t as many resources to go around among the various systems as there used to be. As a result, software has to run very efficiently to ensure that it’s doing as much as it can with every little bit of what its got.

This trend mandates that resource efficiency is a requirement of modern software. Many companies, however, aren’t paying enough attention to this trend. We are at DataDirect! Over the past several years, we have been steadily increasing the focus on our performance, and what we’re finding is that if your software isn’t coded to be resource efficient, you will run into all manner of performance issues running your systems. SaaS applications crumple under unexpected load, scalability suffers and is hard to pinpoint, and SLAs to your customers aren’t met. We have gone so far as to install a “clean room” laboratory just for testing performance of our drivers and ensuring that they are as fast and scalable as possible.

All of our customers understand the value of high performing drivers, and we pride ourselves in delivering nothing but the best. Stay tuned for some exciting product news this Fall and be the first to check out what our new drivers can do!
