Progress enables real-time predictive analytics on Hadoop data with the release of our DataDirect Connect ODBC 8.0 and JDBC 6.0 drivers for Apache SparkSQL.
This week, I am pleased to announce the full release of our Progress® DataDirect Connect® ODBC 8.0 and JDBC 6.0 drivers for Apache SparkSQL. With this release, Progress has become the only data connectivity provider that supports every SQL on Hadoop option, including Cloudera Impala and Pivotal HAWQ, across the full range of distributions and platforms. That’s big news for organizations looking to run BI and analytics on their Big Data sources.
As I’ve pointed out in previous posts, the big advantage of Spark is speed—it’s up to 100 times faster than Hadoop Map Reduce in memory and 10 times faster on disk. And, thanks to the SparkSQL module, you can leverage that speed for any SQL-based third-party application. The most common use case that we can foresee is in BI and analytics, where Spark will enable data scientists to get insights in real-time.
Because I’m such a hands-on kind of person and I want you to get set up as soon as you can, I put together a short video demonstrating this new driver. In the video, I'll show you how to connect Tableau and Microstrategy to a Hadoop sandbox through our SparkSQL drivers. I hope you enjoy it!
Don’t waste any more time struggling with Big Data predictive analytics. Grab a free trial of our SparkSQL drivers from our website today. And if you have any questions or troubles, don’t hesitate to contact us or leave a comment below!
